Police, Taxi Association Propose Rakan Cop Radio Link
GEORGE TOWN, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Penang police and the state's Federation of Taxi and Hire-Car Drivers Association plan to form a radio-link communications system between the two parties for crime alert purposes.

The Federation's president Abdul Malek Darus said discussions were still ongoing with Penang police chief Datuk Abd Rahim Hanafi for taxi drivers to alert the police whenever they witness crime incidents.

Speaking to reporters at the same function with Abdul Malek on high-profile policing here today, Abdul Rahim said he would be holding meetings with taxi associations every month.

He said the meetings were meant to forge close ties and cooperation between the two sides to ensure the success of police's crime prevention programmes.
